BIOGRAPHY
Entrepreneur,
filmmaker, motivational speaker, music producer and
rapper Kelli Cooper (aka Kelli C.) is passionate about
making a difference in the lives of young people. Cooper
presently serves as the creator of ‘The Mission
Is Possible: Youth Awareness,’ a powerful and
moving documentary dedicated to youth empowerment and
she also oversees ‘The Mission Is Possible Tour.’
Cooper
is on a mission to save at-risk youth from social injustices
like AIDS, drugs, poverty and violence. She proudly
says, “I have a dream to inspire youth all over
the world because I care and because I was there.”
From ages three to six, she recalls her favorite words
were, “When I get older I’m gonna shoot
you with my gun and stab you with my knife.” Cooper
humbly admits she was seeking attention.
Born in Harlem
and raised in Queens, Cooper subsequently rebelled as
a young child.
In fact, a strained relationship with her father contributed
to her turbulent behavior. In grades four to seven,
she was suspended from school several times for fighting.
Undaunted by her shortcomings, she dreamed of becoming
a New York City Police Officer at age 12. Just two short
years later, she was nearly arrested for an assault
felony when a female classmate threatened to stab her
with a weapon the girl brought to school.
Through courage,
discipline and perseverance, Cooper decided to focus
on more positive activities and she graduated from Far
Rockaway High School. She continued her studies at St.
Francis College in Brooklyn, New York and earned a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Communications. Cooper attributes
her ongoing success to her devoted mother, a single
parent who raised both Cooper and her sister, Lynette.
“My mother is my shining star and role model.
She never gave up on me,” says Cooper with a smile.
Today, Cooper
is a 17-year veteran of the New York City Police Department.
She was named ‘Cop of the Year’ for her
outstanding community service in 1996. Cooper resides
in Queens, is currently writing a motivational book
for teens and enjoys acting in her spare time.
Cooper is
making her rap debut featuring ‘Keep It Green,’
(Kelli C. & Quest Diamonds) and ‘Mission Is
Possible,’ (Chaz & Kelli C.) on her independent
label, Boedai Records in 2007. The CD is available on
her website, www.boedai.com. A spiritual woman, she
exclaims, “God saved me and my life is about giving
back. I’m determined to save as many lives as
possible.”
