YOUTH EMPOWERMENT DOCUMENTARY SEEKS FUNDING
New York City - “The Mission Is Possible: Youth Awareness” documentary, featuring four ex-cons (Elsun Birmingham, Raheem Harley, Maria Santana and Justice Stewart) in rap sessions with at-risk teens, highlights the importance of education and seeks to empower teens challenged by the social ills of AIDS, drugs and violence. This film is a powerful, heart-wrenching story about pain, regret and bad choices, yet it fosters a sense of hope and inspiration.
The film also features Patti LaBelle, Susan Sarandon, Wyclef Jean, Sean Paul, Nina Sky, Zoe Saldana, City Council Member Peter Vallone Jr., Bishop Mitchell G. Taylor (Center of Hope International) and others who offer practical advice to youth and parents.
The film is directed by Kelli Cooper (aka Kelli C.), a New York City Police Officer and Jason Scianno, a music video production manager who has worked with Grammy-Award winning superstars Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Usher. Cooper also serves as the Executive Producer.
“Our goal is to plant seeds in the minds of our youth, encourage them to think and make positive choices in their lives. This is a life and death matter! This documentary is saving children from the streets! I am making an emergency appeal for help to Oprah and Diddy, and others who care about saving our youth. We are nonprofit through Center of Hope International and hope to raise $39,575.00 to complete post-production editing for our documentary” said Cooper.
Cooper has been touring schools, libraries and youth centers with clips from her documentary since January 2006 and has included churches to her 2008 tour. She introduces teens to The Chief newspaper that offers exams for jobs and encourages teens to take as many exams as possible. Cooper also advises teens to "Keep it green"
in her rap song, which means strive to be the best you can be, education is key and drug-free.
“Kelli Cooper’s dedication to help young men and women through the years shines through in this motivational documentary. Her unwavering work makes her a great role model,” says Hal G. Rosenbluth, President of Kaufman Astoria Studios.
